I William Cook Reives of the district of Chester & State of South Carolina, being weak of Body & in a declining State of health; but of sounds mind & in my perfect understanding; do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament. And first when it shall please Allmighty God to call me from this mortal state, I commit my Soul to him who gave it me, in hopes of an exceptance through the worthy merits of my Redeemer; & my Body to the dust to be disposed of in a decent manner at the discretion of my friends. And as to what worldly substance it hath pleased the Lord to bless me with, I dispose of in the following manner, Viz: I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Mary during her life time all my Lands, that is the plantation situate between Fishing Creek & the Mill Creek with the Mill Seat, containing by Resurvey 180 acres agreeable to a plat there of made by John McCreary dept sur; which lands were given to my by my Father William Rieves, being part of the Bearley Tracts & part of his purchase from Hyatt Williams as will more fully appear by sd plat. And also the tract of Land lately conveyed to my by my father in law John Culp containing thirty acres be the same more or less situate on the waters of Fishing Creek; And at my wife's decease, the whole of the sd lands to be equally divided between my then surviving Children, now four in number Rody, Mary Kattey & Jimmey, to them & their heirs assigns forever, that may survive the decease of their Mother.
I also give & bequeath to my beloved wife, all my personal property of whatever description to pay any debts & defend the law suit about & my lands, & with the proceeds & use of Plantation, to support herself & decently raise & school my children and should my first mentioned plantation be lost at law, then whatever dividend may be coming to me from my fathers Estate is to go to my wife in the same manner as the other part of my Estate before mentioned.
And lastly I nominate & appoint my beloved wife & my trusty friend John Culp Executrix & Executor of this my Last will & Testament. In witness whereof where all the within I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 18 day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & Eighteen and of American Independence the forty third
