Transcript

This Indenture made the sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen Between John Walls of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland of the ono part and William Reeve of Baltimore County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Walls for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars lawful money of the United States of America to him the said John Walls at or before the sealing and delivery hereof by him the said William Reeve well and truly paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien enfeoff release and confirm unto the said William Reeve and to his heirs and assigns All that section of land situate lying and being in the north west Territory of the United States of America and distinguished on a private plat made for sale of said land by Section 2 ( two) in Township seventeen of Range eleven of Jonathan Carvers, purchase Beginning for the same at the distance of twenty four miles north from the end of thirty five miles on a line drawn easterly from the Junction of the River Mississippi and the River Chippewa and running thence east one mile thence south one mile thence west one mile and thence north one mile to the Beginning (being pert of a large tract of land which the Indians of the Nawdowisse Tribe by deed dated the first day of May In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven and filed In the Senate office of the Secretary of the Senate of the United States ) granted unto Jonathan Carver his heirs and assigns forever and which said large tract Rufus Carver of Rutland in the State of Vermont heir at law and administrator of the said Jonathan Carver deceased by Indenture bearing date the third day of June In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen ( recorded at Philadelphia In the office for recording of deeds In Miscellaneous Book C No 1 page 277 &c and also among the land records of Baltimore County Court In Liber W G No 132 folio 13 &c ) granted and conveyed to Benjamin Mun and Eunice his wife granted and conveyed unto the said John Walls by Indenture bearing date the thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen and recorded among the land records of Baltimore County Court in Liber W G No 141 folio 229 &c and also at Philadelphia in Book M R No 1 folio 345 &c Together with all and singular the buildings improvements ways woods waters water courses rights liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever unto the hereby granted premises belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversions and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Walls in law equity or otherwise howsoever of in and to the same To Have And To Hold the said described tract or piece of land hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned and intended so to be with the appurtenances unto the said William Reeve his heirs and assigns to and for the only proper use and behoof of the said William Reeve his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Walls for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said William Reeve his heirs and assigns by these presents that he the said John Walls and his heirs all and singular the premises hereby granted or mentioned and intended hereby so to be with the appurtenances unto the said William Reeve his heirs and assigns against him the said John Walls and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim anything therein by through or under him shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said John Walls hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.

State of Maryland Baltimore County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this sixteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen before the subscribers two Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for said County personally appears John Walls the party of the first part named in the above Indenture and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed at the same time also personally appears Ann Walls the wife of the said John Walls and releases and relinquishes all her right of dower in and to the above described land and premises and the said Ann being privately examined apart from and out of the hearing of her husband declares that she makes her relinquishment of the same willingly and freely without being induced thereto by fear or threats of or ill usage by her husband or fear of his displeasure
