Transcription

THIS INDENTURE made this 8th day of June in the year of our Lord 1819 Between Hezekiah H. Reeves & Hiram Reeves his son of the County of Prince Wm. Of the one part and Lewis Dickinson of the County of Stafford of the other part Witnesseth that the said Hiram Reeves with the approbation of Hezekiah H. Reeves his father hath by these presents put placed & bound himself an apprentice to the said Dickinson to learn the art, trade or mystery of a Carpenter & Joiner until he the said Hiram Reeves shall attain the age of twenty one years which be on the 20th Augt 1822 to serve the said Dickinson in all lawfull employments until he the said Hiram Reeves shall attain the age of twenty one years as aforesaid and the said Dickinson for himself do hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said H. H. Reeves & Hiram Reeves that he the said Dickinson shall and will cause the sd. Reeves the art or mystery of a Carpenter & Joiner & further shall and will for and during the term aforesaid find and provide the said Hiram Reeves with good and sufficient meat, drink washing, lodging and apparel according to the customs of the County in consideration whereof the aid Hiram Reeves is well and truly to serve the said Dickinson the term aforesaid his secrets keep and all lawful commands obey and the said Hiram Reeves for himself doth covenant & agree that during the term aforesd. He will not absent himself day nor night from his masters service, contract matrimony, frequent ale houses, taverns, or play at any game whatever but in all things will well and truly behave himself as a good and faithful apprentice ought to do IN WITNESS whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & year first above written ~
