The will of Jesse Slocumb, dated November 20, 1820, included the following bequeaths:
"Thirdly. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Julia the land and Plantation which I first bought of Adam Reaves whereon he formerly lived and whereon Asher Pipkin now lives containing about Four hundred and Eight acres more or less also nineteen Acres joining the said land patented inn my name.

"Fourthly. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Harriet the land and Plantation whereon Adam Reaves now lives and in which he has a life Estate for himself and wife which said land was conveyed to me by said Reaves in two deeds, the one for about four hundred and forty Acres more or less the other for about thirteen."
