Be it known, that I John C. Reeves of the County of Rowan and State of North Caroina for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by Bennet Abner Reeves of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and signing of these presents the receipt and payment whereof I the said John C. Reeves do hereby acknowledge, have bargained, sold, aliened, Enfeoffed and confirmed and I do hereby bagain, Sell, Enfeoff and confirm unto the said Bennet Abner Reeves all my right, title and claim in and to the lands bequeathed to me by my deceased father Samuel Reeves and also three fifths of the said tract which I the said John C. Reeves purchased of Samuel Reeves, Owen Harrison and Sarah Harrison his wife and William Reeves which on record will fully appear which in the whole constitutes four fifths of the said tract of one hundred and seventy five acres lying and being in the County of Rowan & State aforesaid on Beaverdam Creek a fork of Withrows Creek bounded and runs as follows to wit beginning at a Stake on Thomas G. Polks line and runs South forty six chains to a Spanish Oak Thos. G. Polks corner, thence East seventeen chains to a Hicory Cowans corner, thence South five chains to a White Oak in Cowans line, thence East along his line seventeen chains and twenty links to a Hicory Alexander Dobbins’s corner, thence along his line North forty six chains to a Black Oak sd. Thomas G. Polks corner, thence along his lines West sixteen chains to a Stake thence north eitht chains to a Stake thence West twenty one Chs. 75 links to the beginning containing one hundred and seventy eight acres in the whole one hundred and forty acres of which or four fifths of the said tract I the said John C. Reeves do hereby convey with all woods, ways, water and water courses and every other appurtenance thereunto belonging to the sd. Bennet Abner Reeves his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple and I for myself my heirs executors, and administrators do hereby covenant and promise to and with the said Bennet Abner Reeves his heirs and assigns that I by myself my heirs, executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend the sd. land, hereby conveyed (“granted” first written, then over written “conveyed”) with all and every of its members and appurtenances from all lawful Claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whoever unto the said Bennet Abner Reeves his heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof I the said John C. Reeves have hereunto set my hand and Seal this eighteenth day of October in the year o four Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one.
