Transcript

Let it be recorded that I Sarah Reeves of Raighnton in the township of Newton in the County of Gloucester in the State of New Jersey widow of Clement Reeves decd being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this for my last will and Testament in manner and form following vizt.
First I give and bequeath to my three married daughters Louisa Whitall, Susan Shins? and Mary Wainright each the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid to them by my executor herein after named when my son Joseph Reeves shall arrive to the age of twenty one years and that the above named legatees shall not receive any behefit from my other estate whatsoever in case of the death of any other of my children herein after named or otherwise by legal heirship in case of the decease of the whole of them without lawful issue second the residue of my estate after payment of my just debts, real personal or mixed I give and devise to my four other children namely Israel Reeves Joseph Reeves Ann Reeves and Sarah Reeves to be equally divided between them share and share alike the whole estate real and personal to be appraised shortly after my decease I will and order my son Israel Reeves to provide for my two last named daughters Ann Reeves and Sarah Reeves a comfortable home in the house with himself or otherwise & also to provide for them a sufficiency of food and clothing suitable for their age and sex and that my son Israel Reeves shall occupy all the aforesaid property and shall not account for any rent to the other devisees for the use and occuptation of said property other than providing for the girls as aforesaid until my son Joseph Reeves shall attain the age of twenty one years at which time he shall enjoy the free use and benefit of his property or share as aforesaid and that the said Israel Reeves retain each of the girls shares in his possession until they severally arive at the age of eighteen years and no longer unless it should evidently appear that by keeping the said property the length of time before mentioned that a great loss would be sustained in the fall of said estate or otherwise to the injury of the children then my will is that the whole estate be sold for the best price which can be had for it and money divided equally as aforesaid and the minors shares to be put to interest by guardians to be chosen by said minors and lastly in case my said son Isaac Reeves shall neglect or refuse dying the time before mentioned to make the necessary provisions and clothing for Ann Reeves & Sarah Reeves that they or either of them shall have liberty to choose a guardian and demand rent for the part and share assigned thence from the said Sarah until a division or sale shall take place & I do hereby appoint my son Isaac Reeves sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four 1824

Josiah Atkinson one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will being duly affirmed according to law upon his solemn affirmation saith that he saw Sarah Reeves the testator therein named sign and seal the same and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and testament & at the doing thereof the said testatrix was of sound disposing mind and memory as far as he knows & as he verily believes & that Jacob B. Stokes & Danie Cloak the other subscribing witnesses were present at the same time and subscribed their names thereto as witnesses together with the affirmant in the presence of the testatrix
