Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Charles Reeve of the City of New York Ship Master being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following -
First I constitute and appoint my Father Silas Reeve, and my wife Sarah Reeve Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my only Daughter Emmeline, two Beds and bedding, one large Mahogany Tea Table and a set of Silver tea spoons marked with the initials of her name to be delivered to her when she shall arrive at the age of Eighteen years.
Thirdly I give and bequeath to my infant son Charles Henry Reeve my writing desk, and my watch to be delivered to him when he shall arrive at the age of nineteen years
Fourthly I give and bequeath to my belove wife Sarah Reeve, all the residue of my household furniture including plate glass ware crockery and Books (excepting nautical Books)
Fifthly I give and bequeath to my executors hereinbefore named all the rest residue, and remainder of my estate whatsoever and wheresoever in trust nevertheless, to lease out the premises occupied by me for the remainder of the term I hold, to sell my wearing apparel, nautical instruments nautical book and charts, and all other my personal property not hereinbefore specifically bequeathed, and to collect in the debts due to me, and after paying thereout my just debts and funeral expenses, to use apply and expend the same in their discretion for the support maintenance and education of my said two children until the youngest shall arrive at the age of twenty one years, and then to distribute the same, or such part thereof as shall remain unexpended equally between my said two children and until such distribution shall be made I authorize my executors to keep the same, or such part thereof as shall be unexpended at interest upon such security as they may deem safe, and I do hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made ratifying and confirming this only to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Charles Reeve, as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

City and County of New York SS Be it remembered that on the twenty fourth day of July, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty seven personally came and appeared before James Campbell Surrogate of the said County Augustus Floyd of the City of New York, Attorney at Law and Thomas Hannas of the said City Grocer who being duly sworn on their oaths declared that they saw Charles Reeve sign and seal an instrument in writing purporting to be the will of the said Charles Reeve bearing date the twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty seven (the preceding whereof is a true copy) and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament, that at the time thereof he the said Charles Reeve was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of the deponents, that their names subscribed as witnesses to the said Will of their own proper hands writing respectively which they subscribed as witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other.
