Transcript or Summary

This Indenture made this 24th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine by and between William Reeves of the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee of the one part and Coleman Nichols of the same State and County of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Reeves for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged hath Given Granted bargained sold and Confirmed unto the said Coleman Nichols his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee on the waters of the North Fork of Duck River Beginning at the black oak it being the south west & Beginning corner of the sd Coleman Nichols 6111 acres 60 poles tract & also the North West Corner of Wm Reeves 111 acer tract of which this is a part thence East sixty poles to a hickory in the north boundary line of the sd Wm Reeves's tract thence South 14 poles to a black oak thence West sixty poles to two Dogwood in the West boundary line of the sd Wm Reeves's tract thence North with said line 14 poles to the beginning containing five acres & 4 poles to have and to hold the aforesd land and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the sd Coleman Nichols his heirs and assigns forever and I the said William Reves for myself my heirs Executors administrators and assigns do Covenant and agree to and with the sd Coleman Nichols his heirs and assigns that I will warrant and defend the Right and title of the aforsd land and premises free and clear from the claim or claims of all & every person or persons whomsoever to the sd Coleman Nichols his heirs Executors and administrators forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date first written

I James McKisick Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County afresaid do hereby certify that the Execution of the foregoing deed of conveyance from William Reeves to Coleman Nichols for 5 acre & 40 poles of land was proven in open court by the attes of John D Pierson & Absolam Reaves two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be so certified for Registration Given under my hand at office in Shelbyville this 9th day of May 1832
