Transcript

In the name of God Amen I William Reeves of Scipio Township Meigs County, Ohio, being weak in body & considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz.
First I do will, give & bequeath to my two sons William Reeves and John Reeves all my lands and other real estate to which I am legally entitled to be equally divided between them according to quantity and quality. I do also give and bequeath to my said eldest son William Reeves Jr. one mare & colt being the same that is now kept on the premises. Also all the shop tools & other apperatus belonging to the shop. I also do give & bequeath to my four daughters Betsy Osee Hope, & Catharine Reeves all my other personal property of whatsoever name or nature to be equally divided between them after defraying my funeral charges & other just demands. And I do hereby constitute and appoint Calvin Ross sole executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty eighth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty one.

In the matter of the last will and testament of William Reeves late of Meigs County Ohio deceased John Reeves makes oath and states to the Court that he saw the testator sign the paper produced in Court purporting to be his last will and Testament that he signed the same as witness in his presence and at his request that the testator was at the time of sound mind and memory over twenty one years of age and not under any restraint, that he spoke of the same as being his last Will and Testament and that he is since dead.

Columbia Downing also makes oath and states to the Court that the name of Saml Downing appearing on said will as witness is the hand writing of Samuel Downing his father who is since dead.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the last Will and Testament of William Reves late of said County deceased as presented in said Court at said October Term AD 1846 and duly proven and admitted to record and also a true copy of the evidence adduced as to the due execution of said will All which will appear by reference to the Term Records of our said Court page 462.
