Transcript

The last will and testament of Sarah Reeves of the village of Medford, the township of Evesham, County of Burlington & State of New Jersey:
I Sarah Reeves considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First I give & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Haines my silver spectacles and one of my silver table spoons - To my granddaughter Sarah Haines, one of my silver table spoons - To my son John Reeves my silver watch being the watch his father left at his decease and since that time has been in my care - To my daughter Sarah Ann Reeves six of my largest sized silver tea spoons and one of my silver table spoons - to my daughter Martha Reeves my suit of bed curtains of dark calico including a bed quilt to match - to my son Mahlon Reeves one watch of the value of twelve dollars which sum my execrs herein after named shall be authorized to retain in his hands and to purchase and present said watch to him immediately upon his arriving to the age of twenty one years - to my daughter Esther Reeves six of my silver tea spoons and one silver table spoon also my sugar tongs, my cherry curean and my large Bible - To my daughter Mary Reeves twenty five dollars which my executor shall place at interest as soon after my decease as possible in some safe hands the proceeds of which principal and interest to be paid to her when she shall have arrived to the age of eighteen years also my mahogany bureau and one of my large silver table spoons
Secondly my wearing apparel I wish may be divided share and share alike (or as nearly as may be) among my give daughters considering more the value of the respective share that the particular articles which may compose each share and in order that they may be satisfactorily divided I hereby appoint and request my respected friends, Elizabeth Livezey, Mary Smith and Mary Lippincott (wife of Job Lippincott) to attend to and divide them agreeably to the intent and meaning of this my will and according to the best of their judgment, and if from some unforseen circumstance the three persons just named cannot conveniently meet together at time one without causing an unnecessary delay either two of them may proceed to divide without the other
Thirdly After having made the abovementioned division of my personal estate I hereby direct the remainder to be appraised and sold and the proceeds together with what may be due and owing to me at the time of my decease be collected and all my just debts be paid as soon as may be and if after the above legacies &c be paid & satisfied any money should remain in the hands of my executor I hereby order and direct him to pay it to my five daughters share and share alike if of age if not to their respective guardians for their use.
Lastly I appoint my respected friend John Lippincott of the village of Medford executor of this my last will testament and to which I have signed my name hereby revoking all wills heretofore made or said to be made by me.
Dated at Medford aforesaid this ninth day of the fifth month In the year of our Lord 1834

William Stokes one of the witnesses to the within will, alledging himself to be conscientiously scrupulous of taking an oath, and being duly affirmed on his solemn affirmation according to law did declare and say that he saw Sarah Reeves the testatrix therein named sign and seal the same and heard her publish pronounce and declare the within writing, to be her last will and testament and that at the doing thereof the said testatrix was of sound and disposing mind and memory as far as this affirmant and knows and as he verily believes and that John Stokes the other subscribing evidence was present at the same time and signed his name as a witness to the said will together with this affirmant
