Transcript

This Indenture made this the 27th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six By and between Jackson Nichols of the one part of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee, And Absalom Reeves of the other part of the County and State aforesaid Witnesseth that said Jackson Nichols for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars to him in hand paid by sd Absalom Reeves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the said Absalom Reeves his heirs and assigns forever a certain Tract of land, situate lying and being in the sd County of Bedford on the West side of the North fork of Duck River it being a tract or parcel of land conveyed by John Lock to Nathan Wheeler and Wheeler to Nichols, it being a part of William Lock decd, Beginning on an ash & Elm on the west bank of the North fork, the south east corner of the said lot or parcel of land and the division corner Between William and George Lock, running with division line thirty one poles to a cedar and hickory, thence East two hundred and fifty five and one half poles to two spanish oaks and a pin oak and red bud in the division line Between George and James Lock thence South one hundred and forty eight poles to a sugartree on the bank of the North fork thence down the meanders of the same to the beginning it containing one hundred and forty one acres it being the same more or less To have and to hold the aforesaid land and bargained premises with all & singular the rights profits hereditaments emoluments appertaining of in and to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use of them the said Absalom Reeves his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Jackson Nichols for himself his heirs executors & Administrators doth covenant and agree to and with said Absalom Reeves his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever to defend the aforesaid described premises and bargained land against the lawfull claims of all and every person or persons whatever. In witness whereof the said Jackson Nichols hath hereunto set his hand and his seal the day and date above written.
