Transcript

I Joshua Reeves, of the township of Hopewell in the County of Cumberland, and State of New Jersey, being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this for my last will and testament: After payment of my just debts, funeral expences, and the cost of grave stones for my grave, I dispose of my estate as follows:
First, I give and bequeath to my wife Rachel so much of all my household and kitchen furniture for and during her natural life as she may choose to take & have and at her death I order and direct the same to be sold by my executor and the money arising therefrom to be paid as herein after directed.
Second, I give and devise to my wife the use and rents of all my lads during her life time. I also give to my said wife all my pension money on hand at the time of my decease or that shall then be coming to me from the Government.
Third, I give and devise to William G Reeve my executor herein after named, all my lands I now own, to be sold and disposed of by him, at public on private sale for the best price he can obtain, and to make a good & valid conveyance for the same, and the money arising from such sales to be paid as herein after directed, the sale however not to be made until the death of my wife.
Fourth, Whereas I have hereafter conveyed to my son William G. Reeves the farm & premises where I now live in fee simple which I have gave him in full of his share of my estate. I do therefore give him the sum of one dollar to be the full of all his claim to my estate.
Fifth, I order & direct my executor after my death to purchase grave stones for the grave of my deceased wife, and also for the grave of my present wife after her decease & to pay the cost thereof out of my estate.
Sixth, All the monies arising from the sale of my estate both real and personal after the decease of my said wife and all the residue of my estate whatsoever I give bequeath & devise to my son Thomas Reeves to my Daughters Elizabeth Johnston Catharine Forbes, Harriet Husted & Maria Harris to be divided equally between them share and share alike.
Seventh, I appoint my son William G Reeves executor of this my testament & last will - In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred & thirty six.

Nathaniel Reeve one of the witnesses to the within will being duly sworn according to law, deposeth & saith that he saw Joshua Reeves the testator therein named, sign & seal the same & heard him publish pronounce & declare the within writing to be his last Will and Testament, & at the doing thereof, the said testator was of sound & disposing mind & memory, as far as this deponent knows, and as he verily believes and that Jane B. Seeley & Elias P. Seeley the other subscribing witnesses were present at the same time & signed their names as witnesses to the within will, together with this deponent in the presence of the said testator
