In the Name of God Amen:
I John Reeve of Berlin in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York being mindful of my mortality do this sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven; make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following:
First I give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret Reeve all my household furniture of every discription to hold the same during her natural life and after her decease to be equally divided between my six daughters.
I also give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret my one Horse waggon called the John Bradt Waggon to dispose of as she thinks proper. I also give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret all the dividends arising from what Bank Stock I now hold during her natural life.
Second My will is that my Daughters Margaret and Meroe Reeve be made equal in their outfits for housekeeping to my other Daughters.
Third I appropriate one seventh part of the remainder of all my Real and personal property not heretofore disposed of into the hands of my executors to be applied discretionary by them for the maintenance and support of my son John Reeve during his natural life, provided always that if the said John shall become a temperate man and abandon the use of intoxicating liquor for such a term of time as shall convince community that his intentions are not use intoxicating liquors to excess any more then my will is that the above said seventh part of my property be paid out to my said son John for his use and benefit during his natural life and if the said John should at his decease leave any lawfull issue my will is that his portion go to said issue & if he leave no issue then to be equally divided between my six daughters.
Fourth The remainder six sevenths of all my real and personal property I give and bequeath unto my six daughters & to their heirs and assigns forever, to be equally divided between them.
Fifthly & Lastly The use of all my landed property lying in Berlin together with my stock farming tools grain &c sufficient to carry on and the managing the farm for the present year I give to my wife Margaret Reeve requiring her to pay from the income of the same all rents taxes and expences which may accrue in occupying said land. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons-in-law Joel Mallory & Silas K. Stow together with my friend John Whitford sol executors of this my last Will and Testament.
