Transcript
I James Alexander Reavis of Sangamon County and State of Illinois do make and publish this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.1st I direct that my Body be plainly and decently interred and as to such worldly estate as it has pleased God to entrust me with I dispose of the same in the following manner to wit:
1st I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first money that shall come to the hands of my executor from any portion of my estate real or personal. I give to my daughter Louisa one feather bed and all the farniture for the same which I possess except so much as will clothe the other beds. also all the wearing apparel which her mother left - I give to my sons Elisha, Logan, and William each a feather bed and furniture - I direct the balance of my personal estate including my household furniture to be appraised by three good neighbours of all my said estate and my executor proceed and sell the same on a credit of twelve months and when collected lay the same out for land at congress price & manage the same together with the lands which I now own until William my youngest child becomes of age then I direct him to sell the same and divide the proceeds thereof equal between Louiza my daughter Elisha Logan and William my sons. I appoint my brother Isham Reavis my executor.
Request that Revd John Berry take and raise Louisa and William and that Robert Cononn take and raise Elisha and Logan provided they will agree to educate and do a reasonable part by them.
