Transcription

I James Reeves of the County of Henry & State of Kentucky do make this my last will in the words following that is to say. First I give to my nephew Milton Semonus & his three boys all that tract or parcel of land on the Kentucky river patented to Bird & deed from him to James W. Garner who was my agent. Second I have give to Jacob Polsgrove a power of attorney to transact Some business for me and wish him to go through with it and to have a fair compensation for his trouble, ~ Third I wish all my estate real and personal not otherwise devised divided as follows equally Between Joseph Reeves & his children & John Semonus and his wife Fourth I give to my friend David Cox equal with Jos Reeves & John Semonus. Fifth I do hereby appoint Edmund S. Bailey and Milton Semonus my executors with full power to transact all my business to take all my estate in possession to make any compromise or Sale in my disputed land, that they may think best
          In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this 7th day of October 1841

Whereas I have heretofore made my last will & testament. Now I make this a codicil to Said Will. Whereas I James Reeves owning 492 acres formerly in Shelby County but now in Henry as by reference to patent 18th Octr 1803 recorded in the Registers office of Kentucky in Frankfort Book 15 page 602, I will & bequeath the Same to my nephew Milton Semonus for his undertaking to board & take care of me during my life this being a gift Given under my hand & Seal this 29th day of Octr 1841

Franklin County Court November Term 1841
          A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of James Reeves decd together with the Codicil thereto annexed were produced in Court, and the said will being proved by the oath of Joseph Lecompte and John Brackett the Subscribing witnesses thereto and the said Codicil being proven by the Oaths of Charles Penn & John P Lewis the Subscribing thereto and the same are ordered to record – Whereupon the said will and codicil are truly recorded in my office
