Transcript

I Benjamin Reeve of the town of Southold in the County of Suffolk and State of New York do hereby make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following
First I give and bequeath to my wife Joanna all my household furniture (except one bed, bedstead and bedding) also my best cow and so much room in my house as she may deem necessary for her comfort and convenience and my will is that my son Daniel, out of his portion of my estate shall give and allow unto my said wife, his mother and during her natural life, a constant and comfortable support and maintenance in sickness and health - and he shall pay all reasonable costs and charges that she may contract - which provisions for my said wife shall (if she accept them) be in lieu and bar of her dower and thirds
Second I hereby order and direct my said son Daniel Reeve to pay to my daughter Amanda Reeve the sum of one hundred dollars and to find and allow to her a home in my dwelling house so long as she shall remain unmarried
Third - I give and bequeath to my son Richard S. Reeve the bedding and bedstead which he now uses together with the use of the room he now occupies so long as he shall remain unmarried
Fourth - I give and devise to my two sons Richard S Reeve and James H Reeve a certain piece of woodland that is bounded northerly by a certain path that leads to Wine's Neck - easterly by woodland of the heirs of my brother Thomas Reeve deceased - southerly by meadow of Barnabas B. Horton and Westerly by lands of Barnabas Wines - to be equally divided between the said Richard S Reeve and James H Reeve and to have and to hold to them, their heirs and assigns forever
Fifth - I give bequeath and devise all the rest residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal to my two sons Henry Reeve and Daniel Reeve equally, to them, their heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my two sons Henry Reeve and James H Reeve executors of this my last will and testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty two 1842
