Transcript

This Indenture made the thirteenth day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty four (1844) Between Mary Reeves widow of Joseph Reeves late of the Township of Newton in the County of Gloucester and State of New Jersey deceased, as well as by right of Dower, as of Guardian of Joseph Reeves Hester Reeves and Charles Reeves minor children of said decedent also Samuel A Reeves, Benjamin A Reeves, Reuben Pond and Lydia Ann his wife (late Lydia Ann Reeves) and Mary Reeves Junr Children and heirs at law of the aforesaid Joseph Reeves deceased) all of the Township of Newton in the County of Camden (late Gloucester) and State of New Jersey, all and severally constituting the party hereto of the first part and Blakey Sharpless of the Township County and State aforesaid of the said part. Whereas the said Joseph Reeves, together with John Rowand and William Rowand by force and virtue of a certain conveyance and assurance in the law to him and them duly made and executed in his life time, by Isaac Webster for a certain piece of land situate in the township of Newton aforesaid to be used jointly by the parties thereto for a private road (by deed duly executed and recorded bearing date the 5th day of June 1817 Recorded in the Clerks office of Gloucester County at Woodbury in Liber BB folio 408 Deeds) became lawfully seized in his Demesne of said piece of land, and being so thereof seized departed this life and intestate. And this Indenture witnesseth that the parties hereto of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars lawfull money well and truly paid by the said party of the second part to the said party of the first part at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted bargained sold, aliened enfeoffed released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents, Do grant bargain sell alien enfeof release convey and confirm unto the said party of the second party his heirs & assigns All the right title interest claim and demand of the aforesaid Joseph Reeves decd as tenants in common in to or upon the following desscribed lot or piece of land to be used as a road as aforesaid, situated in the township of Newton in the County of Camden late Gloucester and State of New Jersey and bounded as follows Beginning at a corner of Aaron Meddletons land late John Rowands, thence by lands belonging to the estate of James Stoy deceased and Aaron Middleton North fifty nine Degrees and fifteen minutes east twenty chains and fifteen links to a corner of Samuel Middletons land, thence at right angles to the aforesaid line twenty five links to a corner in Isaac Websters land thence by the same south fifty nine degrees and fifteen minutes West Twenty chains and fifteen links to a stone for a corner in Aaron Middletons land thence at right angles with the aforesaid line twenty five links to the place of beginning containing two Roods of land be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the buildings improvements rights liberties priviledges hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and of every part and parcel thereof: And also all the estate, right, title interest, property, possession claim and demand whatsoever, both in law and equity of the said party of the first part, of, in and to the said premises with the appurtenances. To have and to hold the said premises in manner, and for the use of Road as aforesaid, with all and singular the appurtenances unt the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the sai party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said party of the first part their heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant grant and agree to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, that the said party of first part have good right full power lawful and absolute authority to grant bargain and sell the said premises to the said party of the second part as an absolute & indefeasable estate in fee simple and that it shall and may be lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns at all times forever hereafter peaceably and quietly to have hold, use oocupy possess an manner aforesaid and enjoy the premises aforesaid with all and singular the appurtenances without the lawful let suit trouble denial molestation of the said party of the first part their heirs or assigns or ay other person or persons whosoever lawfully claiming the same, and free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted & discharged of and from all mortgages judgments executions and of and from all other incumberances whatsoever: and the said party of the first part heir heirs executors and administrators the said premises with all and singular the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns against the claim and demand of all and all manner of persons whomsoever claiming the same Will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Received the day of the date of the within written Indenture of Blakley sharpless Five Dollars in full of the Consideration money mentioned therein. By me Mary Reeve witness J L Rowand.

State of New Jersey Camden County SS Before me the Subscriber commissioner duly appointed to take the acknowledgment and proof of Deeds in and for said County personally appeared mary Reeves (widow) Mary Reeves Junr Samuel A Reeves Benjamin A Reeves, and Reuben Pond and Lydia Ann Reeves the grantors named in the within conveyance and idd acknowledge that they signed sealed and delivered the same as their voluntary act and deed the contents thereof having first been made known to them by me and I being satisfied that they are the Grantors mentioned therein and the said Lydia Ann Pond and Telpha Reeves wife of Samuel A Reeves on a Private examination before me apart from their husbands respectively acknowledged that they signed sealed and delivered the same as their voluntary act and deed truly without any fear or threats or compulsion of their said Husbands respectively. Acknowledged before me this thirteenth day f May AD 1844
