Joseph appears on the 1840 census in Newton, Gloucester County. His son Samuel is also a head of household in Newton. An 1844 deed names his widow and children as grantors of some land he had.

A number of these children are living with their older brother Samuel in 1850. Note that Camden was created from Gloucester County in 1844 and so Newton switched from Gloucester to Camden.

Joseph, Mary, Charles, and Esther (Hester) are all buried together in the Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery, Haddonfield, Camden County, New Jersey.
