Page 14 notes George James REEVES CB KH as holding the rank of Major General in the British Army. He is presently serving as Lieutenant-Governor of Placentia.

He was promoted Cornet, etc on 9 February 1791, Lieutenant on 29 June 1793, Captain on 21 December 1797, Major on 10 October 1805, Lieutenant-Colonel 1 January 1812, Colonel on 22 July 1830 and Major general on 28 June 1838.

His name is prefixed with an ornate letter "P" denoting he served in the Peninsula, or the South of France (as per the explanations on page 2)

Page 23 records his active service as follows.

91 Major-General Reeves was at the capture of the French West India Islands by the army under Sir Charles Grey, and served in the Brigade of Grenadiers commanded by the Duke of Kent; and when both his Royal Highness' Aides-de-camp were wounded, he carried the Duke's orders during the rest of the action of Morne Tortenson: was wounded at the storming of Fleur d'Epee. Aide-de-camp to Lieut.-General Ralph Dundas for three years in Ireland, including the rebellion in 1798, battles of Kilcullen and Vinegar Hill. Served the campaign in Egypt, under Sir Ralph Abercromby, including the action at the landing and those of the 13th and 21st March, and that of Rahmanie, 9th May, on the Nile; in command of the 8th Regt. at Grand Cairo, when the city was surrendered. Served in the Mediterranean in command of the 2nd battalion of the 27th Regt., and was present at the capture of the islands of Ischia and Procida, in 1809. Afterwards in the Peninsula, from 1811 to 1813, including the taking of Alcoy by storm, action of Biar, battle of Castalla in command of the Light Division, nad sent home for recovery. Medal for services in Egypt.

Page 448 notes he is Lieut.-Gov of the Garrison at Placentia, to which he was appointed on 14 June 1819. His annual pay is GBP173 7s 6d

Page 464 notes he is a Companion (CB) of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath

Page 468 notes he is a Knight (KH.) on the Royal Hanoverian Guelphic Order.

Page 472 notes he is also permitted to wear the Foreign Order of Second Class of Crescent.
