Transcript

In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Reeves of the township of Northampton the County of Burlington State of New Jersey, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and considering this transitory life, Do for avoiding controversies after my decease make and publish declare this my last Will and Testament in the following manner (that is to say) After my funeral expences be paid
Item I give and bequeath to my beloved grand daughter Anna Lorine Hellerman my china tea sett consisting of 12 cups 12 saucers 1 sugar bowl 1 cream cup 1 slop bowl also six of my best silver tea spoons marked J.S.R. and one striped bed quilt and one pair milled blankets
Item 2nd I give to my grand daughter Sarah Elizabeth Stoy one china curtain calico bed quilt also one red and green coverlit.
Item 3rd I give to my beloved son George F. Reeves two hundred dollars, one bed one pair milled blankets one coverlit one bedstead and one mahogany framed looking glass
Item 4th I give to my four daughters Sarah Ann Hellerman, Elizzabeth C. Matlack, Mary Ann Rue, and Elenora Stoy, all my wearing appearrall to be equally divided between them share and share alike
Item 5th I give to my son Joseph Reeves my nine silver table spoons six silver tea spoons one large silver ladle two goose feather beds, one hen feather bed with all remaining household and kitchen furniture and also all monies and other effects not otherwise bequeathed
Item 6th I give to my beloved Grand children William C Reeves, Daniel S Reeves, and John R Reeves, children of my son John Reeves (late of the State of Ohio deceased) all my right title and share of dower in one hundred and six acres of land (Farm?) situate near Brittiney in the County of Butler State of Ohio the same being recorded in the office at Hamilton and to be equally divided between my three grandsons as aforesaid William C Reeves, Daniel S. Reeves, and John R Reeves, share and share alike, It is my will and I do hereby make constitute and appoint my son Joseph Reeves executor to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I Sarah Reeves the testator within on one sheet paper sett my hand and seal this ninth day of February AD one thousand eight hundred and forty nine (1849)

It is my will that in case of the decease of my son Joseph Reeves without lawful heirs that the portion in will to go to my son George F Reeves his brother

Thomas J Sutter one of the witnesses to the within will alledging himself to be conscientiously scrupulous of taking an oath & being duly affirmed according to law doth declare he saw Sarah Reeves the testatrix therein named sign seal the same and heard her publish pronounce declare the within to be her last will & Testament and that at the doing thereof the testatrix was of sound & disposing mind & memory as far as this affirmant knows & as he verily believes and that Matthew McHarry & Allen Well the other subscribing evidences were present and signed their names as witnesses to the said will together with this affirmant in the prescence of the said testatrix.
