Commentary

The sequence of these individuals is curious. Ellen's age is indistinct and might be read as 15 rather than 5, which would explain why she her martial status is shown as "U" for unmarried. However, FreeBMD has a birth registration for an Ellen Wentworth in 1q1847 in Winchester Reg. Dist. which might be this individual and the Hampshire Genealogical Society's Index of Baptisms does not have an Ellen Wentworth in 1835 +/-3 years. John & Elizabeth were married in 1843, so it is highly probable that William is strictly John's step son.
