Narrative

At the time of the 1851 census William is living with his Irish born mother, Elizabeth and her husband John Wentworth, whom she married in 1843 in Hampshire. Although his relationship to head of household is stated as son, it is probable he was actually John's step-son.

William is noted as being 10 years old, claims birth in Ireland and is working as an Agricultural Labourer.

William has not been positively identified on any other English Census. His mother died prior to the 1861 and he is not found with his presumed step-father John Wentworth and family on the 1861 census ¹.
