Transcript or Summary
Rel Cond Age Occupation Where Born
Edward Reeves Head Unm 27 Master Watchmaker Lewes, Sussex
Benjamin Vinall Visitor Unm 28 Watchmaker (Journeyman)
Lewes, Sussex
- The Occupation column is potentially confusing for Benjamin and the line below his, given the way three rows of writing have been squeezed in. The most logical interpretation would be that Benjamin (schedule 15) is a "Watchmaker (Journeyman)" and John Boxall (schedule 16) is a "Master Tailor employing 3 Men and 1 Apprentice".
- The possibility of a family connection with Benjamin VINALL would be worth exploring. VINALL was the married surname of Edward's elder sister Sarah Rose/Row REEVES. At the time of the 1841 census Benjamin is working as an apprentice watch maker in Brighton, Sussex so yielding no additional information.
- Edward's father, also an Edward Reeves, is living on the eastern end of High Street at the time of this census.
