I Green Rives do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament hereby revoking & making void all former wills by me at any time made
1st At my Death I wish to be buried in a decent manner & my funeral expenses & other debts if any to be paid out of any moneys or means that may first come into the hands of my executor & I then bequeath to my youngest son Robert C. Rives & my youngest daughter Susan Elizabeth Rives one Bed & furniture apiece also to Susan Elizabeth her mothers saddle the remaining part of what property I may die seized with I wish and desire to be equally divided between all of my last children viz. Littlebury W. Rives James M. Rives, Benjamin W. Rives Robert C. Rives & Susan Elizabeth Rives except a small portion which I wish for my oldest children to have viz., Thos. H. Rives, John H. Rives H. H. Rives Mary G. Blackmon Willis G. Rives & Frances M. Neely which last named children I wish to have equally as little as the law will let them have not to invalidate my will if any thing should not be collected from my son Thomas H. Rives (who is owing me a large amount) before my death I bequeathed equally to my first married children what ever may afterwards be collected of that debt & hereby authorize my executor to compromise with the said Thomas H. Rives & receipt him in full in case the will pay to my executor the sum of fifteen Hundred dollars and the said sum if collected or as much (?) as may be collected to be desposed of as above directed & thereby nominate & appoint my son Willis G. Rives my executor to this my last will & Testament In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal May 24th A. D. 1849

I in addition furthermore bequeath to my son Robert C. Rives One bay filley and to my daughter Susan Elizabeth Rives one sorrel filley And also wish my son H. H. Rives to take her part of my estate & manage it untill she marries or becomes of age he taking the same without giving an back for the same I also wish my son Willis G Rives to manage Robert V. Rives the same way

Personally appeared here in open court Thomas H. Holland & J. B. Yishback subscribing witnesses to the foregoing & amended will who being first sworn in open court proceed the due execution of said will according to law it is therefore ordered by the court to be entered on record
