Page 22a notes that Colonel G M Reeves CB of the 99th Foot "passed the Examination and received Certificates at the Senior Department, Royal Military College" in June 1829

Page 282 notes George Marmaduke REEVES as a Lieutenant Colonel currently serving with the 99th (Lanarkshire) Regiment of Foot.

He has 39 year service on Full Pay and an additional 2years and 3 months on Half Pay.
His active service is described thus -
"Colonel Reeves served throughout the campaign of 1860 in the North of China; commanded the 4th Brigade at the action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, and storming the nearest North Taku Fort - wounded severely in three places and slightly in two, but did not quit the field until all the remaining North Forts had surrendered; commandeer the advance from Tientsin, and the 4th Brigade in the actions of the 18th and 21st Sep., and surrender of Pekin (mentioned in despatches, CB., Medal and Clasps, and Distinguished Service Pension)."

He was promoted Ensign on 1 July 1824, purchased his commission as Lieutenant on 8 April 1826, purchased his commission as Captain on 27 April 1827, promoted Brevet Major 23 November 1841, promoted Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 11 November 1851, Major 20 June 1854, Colonel 28 November 1854 and Lieutenant Colonel 17 September 1858.

The Regiment is currently serving in Hong Kong, having returned from Australia on 29 May 1856 and embarked for India in September 1858.
