Commentary
Although the image clearly show two individuals named Jno (John) Reeves, it is strongly suspect that this is Joseph Reeves from Alfreton, Derbyshire, and his second son John Reeves. Joseph and John were not part of the family group comprising his wife Mary Ann Reeves (nee WARD), sons William Reeves, Joseph Reeves, Abraham Reeves, Alfred Reeves and daughter Sarah Reeves, who arrived in New York from Liverpool in November 1880. That father and son travelled in advance of the main family group to secure employment and accommodation and perhaps earn monies to pay the fares of the other family members seems plausible. Also, on the 1900 US Census, son John Reeves states he arrived in the USA in 1879.Source
