In the name of God amen.

I David Reaves of the County of Duplin & State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory and considering the uncertainty of the is frail & transitory life, do therefore make, ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament: that is to say First. After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my Estate, real & personal, I give and bequeath as follows viz: To my beloved wife the entire proceeds of one hundred and Eight nine acres of land including the homestead and known as lot No. 3 in the division of my land which I made among my sons, and better known as a part of the Giles T. Loftin tract. It is also my will that she shall have the corn & fodder & other provisions on hand that I shall die seized & possessed of with one cow & calf, all my hogs, one horse & Buggy, one set harness, one cart, one set farm implements, household & Kitchen furniture. Likewise it is my will that Kitty Southerland my wife's Sister, who has long dwelt with us, shall have contributed from my estate, the amount of five hundred dollars to be dealt out to her by my Executor, in case of actual necessity, taking her receipts for the same, but should she die or marry leaving a remnant of the same, then & in that case, it shall return to my Estate. It is further my will that each of my heirs shall take their own notes as given to the Estate as their distributive share, but should either transcend their original proportion, then the overplus shall be paid over to the Estate to make those that are minors equal in distribution. Likewise, I make, likewise I make constitute and appoint my son George L. Reaves to be Executor to this my last will & testament by requiring him to give bond with sufficient security for the faithful performance of the this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name & affixed my seal on this the tenth day of August A.D. one thousand eight hundred & eighty.

George L. Reaves being sworn doth say:

That David Reaves late of said County is decd having first made and published his last Will and Testament and that George L. Reaves is the Executor named therein. Further the property of the said David Reaves, consisting of Real & personal property is worth about $12000.00 so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application and that Ann Jane Reaves wife of David Reaves dec'd, Mary C. Jones wife of W. J. Jones, Julia A. Jones wife of J. D. Jones, Jno. R. Reaves, George L Reaves, L H. Reaves, Wilson Reaves, D. B. Reaves & Kitty Southerland are the parties entitled under said will to the said property.
