Narrative
Carter was named along with William and Austen Ball as the younger sons of John Ball, Sr. in his 1777 Essex County will.He was named as an executor of his grandfather Joseph Reeves' 1781 will.
A deed dated January 1793 by Carter's brother John Ball, Jr. states that Carter died intestate and the land conveyed in that deed was that willed to Carter. The tract of 139 acres of land was that "called Reeves's" which Carter had inherited. Carter having no issue, the land was then conveyed to his mother and siblings who were, by this deed, selling the tract.
Carter Ball was listed as an unnamed tithe of his mother Patience in 1783, but when listed with her in 1784 he is stipulated as being 21 years of age. Carter Ball continued to be listed on the Essex County tax listing until 1792 when he is absent.
