Patience Reeves married John Ball prior to November 20th, 1753 when her uncle George Reeves wrote his Spotsylvania County will for he named her as Patience Ball and left a bequest to her in that will.

The 1781 will of Joseph Reeves names his grand daughters Mary Lumpkin, Elizabeth Ball, Henrietta Ball and Susannah Coleman. Additionally he named grand daughter Sally Waggener who may also have been a child of Patience Reeves Ball but she is not named in the will of John Ball. Joseph named grandson Carter Ball as a legatee as well as an executor of his will but left no bequests to or mentioned the other sons named in John Ball's will.

Research Notes

Patience is not named in her father's 1781 will and was initially presumed to be deceased at that time. She was living when John Ball wrote his will on the 26th of January in 1777 which indicates that she died between that time and April of 1781. Michael Ball who descends from Patience's son John Ball, Jr. has recently discovered information indicating she lived through 1793 based upon her consistent listings on the Essex County, Virginia tax lists from 1782 through 1793. She apparently died after May 27th 1793 when the tax list of that year records her and 1794 for she does not appear that year or on any subsequent years' tax lists.
