Reeves Y-DNA Project Updates - September 2006 [3]

Originally notified to the Reeves-L mailing list by Barry Reeves on 30 September 2006 (accessed May 2019) and reformatted for inclusion here.

All,

I have great news for you about our Reeves DNA Project.

First, we have a new member, John James Reeves who has joined us through Y-Search.   John took his DNA test through a company other than Family Tree DNA (DNA Consulting). He posted his results to the Y-Search database and with the help of Dr. Carole Reeves-Morton (a Reeves list member) he contacted me and asked if he could join our group. Although the company he tested with doesn't present all their markers in the same way that Family Tree DNA does, the first 30 markers they test do match by marker and order with that of FTDNA.

Now here is where the really exciting news comes in. John James Reeves matches on his first 30 markers exactly with one of our earliest participants, Kenneth Vernon Reeves (12224). Kenneth joined the Reeves DNA Project over three years ago on Sep. 2, 2003. 1 Now what is even better is that they have a pretty obvious common ancestor in John Reeves (b. 1768 NC - d.1855 KY). This creates our ninth match group. Please join me in welcoming John James Reeves to our DNA project and congratulate both John and Kenneth on their match.

You can see the updated results and family line information on our Reeves DNA Project website at the following links.

Regards,

Barry Reeves

1         Strictly Kenneth's test predates the creation of the Reeves DNA Project. His kit was ordered in August 2003, returned on 02 September 2003 and his Y-25 test results were posted by FtDNA on 10 October 2003. As noted elsewhere the Reeves Y-DNA Project wasn't formed until early 2004.
