Jones who was secretary for the first Territorial Governor of Nebraska, and settled in Omaha. Mr. Jones is one of the principal founders of the beautiful city of Omaha..."¹

Documentation that Joseph Doughton and Polly Reeves were the parents of Elizabeth Doughton, wife of George Reeves, is found in the deed records of Ashe County NC. Deed Book V has several 1832 deeds by the heirs of Joseph Doughton in which George Reves is listed as one of the heirs.

The biography of Preston Reeves of Omaha, Nebraska, son of George Reeves and Elizabeth Doughton of Grayson, Virginia, was published in a history of Nebraska and gives some information regarding this family.

George Reeves' family was living in Polk County, Iowa along with Lenoir Reeves, son of William, in 1846.

This must be Joseph Doughton, Sr. as all records for Elizabeth Doughton Reeves give her birth as 1799 and Joseph Jr. was born circa 1794.
