Documentation that Joseph Doughton and Polly Reeves were the parents of Elizabeth Doughton, wife of George Reeves, is found in the deed records of Ashe County NC. Deed Book V has several 1832 deeds by the heirs of Joseph Doughton in which George Reves is listed as one of the heirs.
The biography of Preston Reeves of Omaha, Nebraska, son of George Reeves and Elizabeth Doughton of Grayson, Virginia, was published in a history of Nebraska and gives some information regarding this family.
George Reeves' family was living in Polk County, Iowa along with Lenoir Reeves, son of William, in 1846.
