Reading, Berkshire
Location
Reading is the ceremonial county town of Berkshire, a role which it shared with Abingdon-on-Thames prior to 1867. Reading lies slightly to the east of centre of the county and on the northern edge, where the southward sweep of the River Thames marks the boundary between between Oxfordshire and Berkshire and close to the confluence of the Rivers Kennet and Thames. Reading is approximately 36 miles west of Central London, 70 miles east of Bristol. Oxford is about 70 miles to the north-west and Basingstoke about 17 miles to the south-south-west.The town is comprised of just three parishes, St Giles, Reading, St Lawrence, Reading and St Mary, Reading
