Colchester, Essex
Location
Formerly a borough, Colchester received city status in September 2022. It is located towards the north east of the county of Essex. The River Colne flows through the city, entering the North Sea near Brightingsea some ten miles to the south east.The City of Colchester is approximately twenty four miles to the east north east of the county town of Chelmsford. The market town of Braintree is approximately fifteen to the south. The port town of Harwich, part of the ancient parish of Dovercourt is eighteen miles to the east north east.
