Hastings (Parish of St Mary in the Castle)

Hastings (Parish of St Mary in the Castle), Sussex

Location

St Mary in the Castle is one of a number of ancient parishes within the town of Hastings.

Parish Church

Although an ancient parish, the present church building was erected during the 1820's on a new site. Its dedication reflects the earlier church, then a ruin, on the cliff top above the current site. The present church building has ceased to be used as a place of worship and became an arts centre in 1998. See http://stmaryinthecastle.co.uk/building/.

The former Parish (CofE) Church of St Mary in the Castle can be found here on Google Street View.
