David L. Geer enlisted as a private in Company L, Georgia 26th Infantry Regiment of the CSA on 18 Apr 1861 and was mustered out on 09 Nov 1862 on that date he was transferred to Company B, Florida 5th Infantry Regiment. He was mustered out of that regiment on 9 Apr 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. His service record describes him as - height: 5 ft. 6 in., fair complexion, grey eyes, dark hair.
