Frederick S. Geer enlisted as a private in Company B, Florida 5th Infantry Regiment of the CSA on 8 Mar 1862 and was mustered out on 9 Apr 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. He was captured at Spotsylvania, Virginia in May of 1864. He signed the Oath of Allegiance on 19 Jun 1865 at Elmira, New York.
