The Grayson County VA tax lists of 1818 and 1819 contain the curious listing of "George Reaves son of S Tolliver" or Susanna Reeves Toliver. The name is listed exactly the same in both years' listing. Since he was listed in his own right, i.e. as an adult, in 1818 he must have been born circa 1797.

An 1828 Grayson County, Virginia deed from George G. Greear (sic) to Joshua Cox records the name of the seller as George G. Greer as well as George G. Rieves in that same document. That 140 acre property on Fox Creek had been deeded to George in 1827 by Aquilla Greer. [DB5 p203]

As George Greer, he appeared on the tax lists of Grayson County from 1823 until 1834.

Research Notes

Although there is no specific documentation that George Reeves/Greer was the son of Susanna Reeves Toliver there is an abundance of inferential data to support the belief beyond the listings of the 1818 and 1819 tax listings. The 1828 sale of his 140 acre tract on Fox Creek in Grayson County where his name is listed as both Rieves (sic) and Greer appears to have preceded his migration to Indiana.

It is also of interest that his presumed half brothers Allen, Andrew and James Madison Toliver all also migrated to Indiana where Allen also settled in Lawrence County. It is noteworthy that other Reeves' family including Susanna Reeves Toliver's brother William and his family members also migrated to Lawrence County, Indiana after leaving Ashe County, North Carolina.
