Errors of The Reeves Review II
William Durham Reeves
Page 48, ID 416The lineage listed as (William, George, John John, William, Timothy, Richard, John, Robert) is incorrect other than William, George and John. Earlier individuals shown in red are incorrect and proven to be so by DNA.
The name is also listed incorrectly as Reeves; however, this family used the REEVE variation of the surname. His father William Reeve as well as brothers James White Reeve, George Washington Reeve, Noah Riddle Reeve and others consistently used the Reeve surname.
Thomas Hudson Reeves listed as a son of William Durham Reeves is unsupported by historical records. The only documented children of William Durham Reeve are those listed in the 1850 census of DeKalb County, Georgia: George T., b. 1830, Edward W., b. 1833, William Frances M., b. 1838, James A. J., b. 1840 and Mary A. Reeves, b. 1843.
In the 1880 census of Attala County, Mississippi as well as the 1900 census, Thomas Hudson Reeves gives his parents' place of birth as North Carolina. This further establishes that William Durham Reeve was not his parent as he is documented as having been born in South Carolina. Census records also indicate that William Durham Reeve's children were all born in South Carolina proving that his residence there continued to the 1840's while Thomas Hudson Reeves is recorded in census as having been born in Georgia.
