He bought land in Barbour County, Alabama from William Hines in 1843.

There is a probate file for "Asha" Reaves from 1887 in which the land was sold and proceeds divided between his heirs. From the file:
late homestead and planatation of Asha Reeves deceased, which property is owned jointly and in common by David S. Reeves, Rebecca Ann Flowers, Maggie Veutress, Amanda Fourtur?, Naricssa Reaves, Martha Fanek, Elizabeth Jones, Scitha Woods, and Polly Ann Rogers, who each own one share, they being children of the said Asha Reeves deceased; and Fanny Reeves, Claud Reeves, and Sophronia Bush, who own jointly one share between them, they being children of Wellburn Reaves deceased, who was a son of Asha Reaves deceased; and S. F. Williams and M. R. Green, who are entitled to one half of one share each they being the children of Lydia Glass, deceased, who was a daughter of the said Asha Reaves deceased, and Bryant Stephenson, William Stephenson Atlas A. Stephenson, and Laura Streetman own one sixth each of one share, Emma Hill, Lula Hill & Richlard Hill, one each one third of one sixth of one share; and Samuel Reed, William Reed & Flether Reed, Mollie Reed, Lela Reed and Dee Reed, own each one sixth of one sixth of one share.

We regret to learn that Mr. Asher Reaves, aged 86 years, died Thursday at 9 o'clock. He was an old and estimable citizen of the county and had lived a life of honor and christian fidelity and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.
