Narrative
In his will, Lawson mentions his wife Mary E. who was pregnant, his stepmother Lavinia Reaves and sister Martha Brown of Hardin County of the State of Tennessee. The probate documents reveal that the widow Mary E. Reaves remarried to Harrison D. Austin. They also reveal Martha's husband to be named Edward Brown.On the 1850 census his step-mother Lavinia Reaves (age 65) and her two daughter Emeline (22) and Jane (18) are living next door.
Headstone states: "Lawson Dimer Reaves/Born Nov 19th 1811/In Davidson County Tennessee/and departed this life/July 13th 1850/Hinds County Mississippi/An upright man he lived respected/and died regretted."
