Narrative
No census records have been located for the family of Willis Hardy Reaves after the census of 1880.There is an estate file in Sampson County dated 1891 in the name of Willis Reeves. The only document included in that file is an inventory of his estate. The entire contents of the state appear to have been awarded to his wife. The document indicates there was one child in the home of Caroline Reeves but the child is not named.
There is a marriage recorded in Sampson County on 7 Jan 1896 for a Caroline Reaves of the approximate correct age to Lovett Gautier. There doesn't seem to be another Caroline Reaves in that county so it can only be presumed that Willis Hardy Reaves' widow Caroline married after his death but there are no subsequent records for them in Sampson County.
