William H. Reavis enlisted in Co. H of the 29th Infantry of the Union Army on 26 Feb 1864 during the Civil War and was mustered out on 30 Jun 1865 at the end of the war.

Sarah Cripe Reavis died on 13 Aug 1868 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

The only record documenting James W. Reavis as the son of William H. Reavis is the Civil War Pension Index which names James W. as a minor child of William H. Reavis. The record includes the term "et al" after James' name but doesn't list any other names.

Research Notes

In the 1850 census of Ross, Clinton County, Indiana, Sarah Cripe along with her mother and siblings were living in the household of William H. Reavis' uncle Enoch Reavis.

The last known documentation that is believed to be for this William H. Reavis is an Arizona Voter Registration of 7 Jun 1878 filed in Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona Territory. However, there is also a grave in the County Home Cemetery for a William Reaves (?) who died on 4 Feb 1875, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, accordingly the exact date of his death is unknown.
