NOTICE TO ELECTORS
I the Subscriber, a gentleman of talents, integrity and worth, well known as a flaming democrat, solving every objection to the present administration, and every doubt as to the perfect propriety and wisdom of each of their measures, to my own satisfaction, upon the truly republican principle of confidence in the Executive, do by these presents offer myself a candidate for the office of Senator, at the ensuing election. I do most sincerely intend, if elected, to oppose every thing that may come to my knowledge, that has any colour of federalism. To the enlightened genuine republicans of the present day, this, I hope, will be a sufficient recommendation. In thus offering myself, my intention is to supercede the nomination of a man named David Chambers, who I understand is very little known. I am a man of consequence, and will fight for the present administration. I am the public's
Humble, republican servant,
CALEB REEVES.
Ohio county, March 19th, 1808.
In 1820, he was listed in Ohio County, Virginia, in the category age 45 and up.
In 1830, he was listed in Ohio County, Virginia, as age 60-70.
Caleb Reeve left a will in 1841 in Ohio County, (West) Virginia in which he mentioned "my nephew Micajah Reeves of the City of Philadelphia" and "my sister Nancy." Although his father Micajah's will does not name a daughter Nancy, Nancy was a common nickname for Ann at the time, so this is apparently in reference to his sister Ann. The will was written in April 1841 and proved in June of the same.
