In 1900, Carlton was living in Vallejo, California with his brother Alonzo. In 1910, he was with his widowed mother Elizabeth in Vallejo. In 1920, he was age 52, still in Vallejo, with his wife Jessie (56), step-daughter Hazel Smith (29), and two lodgers, Jean Simms (26) and Charles Reavis (26). Charles appears to be from the larger Reavis family and has no known connection to Carlton's family.
