Daniel Reeve of Shelter Island, Suffolk County wrote his will on 26 Dec 1845 and it was proved 29 Jun 1857. He mentions only his wife Sally who was made sole heir and executrix. Abstracts of the probate records indicate that he died Sep 1852, with heirs Charles H., Catharine L., and Asenath Reeve (File 4799).

He is listed as Daniel Reeve Jr. in Riverhead in 1840, age 40-50, with one young male (5-10), a girl (0-5), another (5-10) and woman (30-40) which matches this family.

On the 1850 census, Daniel is listed in Shelter Island, age 54, with Catharine A. (17), Charles H. (16), and Asenath (13) in the household. Sally Reeve (46) is listed in the next household, although it appears the household number was on the wrong line.

Research Notes

Daniel is suggested by online sources to be a son of Daniel Reeve. Further research is needed on this possible connection. Since he is listed as Daniel Jr. on the census, this makes sense.
