DR. DANIEL REEVE DEAD.
Well Known Surgeon and One of the Founders of City Hospital.
The death of Dr. Daniel L. Reeve, at his residence, No. 330 Eighth street, after a long and painful illness, caused sorrow among his many friends of this city, where for nearly forty years he had been a practising physician. He was almost an octogenarian, having passed the seventy-sixth mile stone of his career.
He was graduated from the Medical College of the University of the City of New York in 1845. At one time he was considered one of the leading surgeons in Hudson county and his practice was large and lucrative. His wife died ten years ago. Two sons, George and Lewis Reeve, and a sister, Mrs. Phoebe J. Gale, of Middletown. New York, survive him.
He was born in New York State, and in his younger days taught school at Bloomingrove in that State. Among his early co-workers in the medical fraternity were Drs. John Vondy, Theodore R. Varick, Theodore T. Morris. A. C. Lutkins. B. A. Watkins and Dr. Hunt , now' of California. He was one of the founders of the City Hospital, and was connected professionally with Christ and St. Francis’ Hospitals.
