Enlisted in the Civil War on 1 Jan 1862 as a 2nd Lieutenant. Promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 31 Dec 1862. Commissioned an officer in the Ohio 15th Light Artillery Battery on 01 Feb 1862. Mustered out on 16 Jun 1864.
