Although the marriage record states his father's name was John Reeve, this would be a reference to John Reeve, the husband of his mother Hannah Reeve. George is listed as an illegitimate son of Hannah, who was single at the time. The census mentions a brother William in 1851, who was age 29 (b. c1822), but a baptism for him has yet to be found.
