The book Ingatestone and the Essex Great Road with Fryerning indicates James Gurdon Reeve was a deacon from 1852 to 1879 at a Congregational church at Ingatestone.

In 1861, he was in Mountnessing, age 56, born in Great Clacton. With him are wife Jane (56) and children Susannah (21), George Henry (19), and Wallis Gurdon (16).

In 1871, he was in Mountnessing, age 66, born in Great Clacton, with wife Jane (65), daughter Annie (30), and servant Ann Sutton (13).

James Gurdon Reeve's death was registered in Billericay, Essex in 1q 1879, age 73.

REEVE James Gurdon. Personal Estate under £200. 28 January. The Will of James Gurdon Reeve late of Mountnessing in the County of Essex Grocer and Draper who died 8 Jan 1879 at Mountnessing was proved at the Principal Registry by James Stacey Reeve of Springfield in the said County Draper the Son and Benjamin Jacob Hart Salmon of the City of Norwich Gentleman the Executors.

REEVE - Jan. 8th, 1879, of paralysis, James Gurdon Reeve, of Mountnessing, in his 74th year.

  • James Gurdon Reeve died at his residence Mountnessing, Essex, on Wednesday Jany 8th 1879 aged 73 years, and was buried in the Congregational Church Burial Ground on Monday January 13th 1879
