James is incorrectly listed as James H. Reeve on the 1850 census, age 39. States he was born in Orange County. With him were wife Fanny (42), and Charlotte (12) and Harriet (10) Reeve along with Charles Mathers (16).

Later census records all state James M., in agreement with other records. In 1860, Fanny (53), Charlotte (21), Elizabeth (20) and a James H Tyron (15) were with him.
